First let me apologize for the long delay in getting an update to the website. With caucus data to input and a record caucus turnout to recover from there has been a short hiatus.
The Whitman County Democratic Convention will be held April 19th from 9 am to 1 pm at the Gladish Community Center in Pullman (map). We will be holding the convention in the gym.
We should be contacting delegates and alternates very soon with an agenda and proposed rules for the convention.
Volunteers Needed for County Convention
We will need many volunteers to make the convention run smoothly. Please read through the descriptions of opportunities and let us know if you can help. Tell a friend, since not all Dems are on the e-mail list.
If you have any questions about any of the volunteer opportunities or you would like to volunteer, e-mail Carolyn Cress at ccress@pullman.com, or call 334-0999.
The County Convention will be held April 19. Sign-in will begin at 9:00am and deliberations at 9:30 am.
1. We will need non-delegates and non-alternates to volunteer for the CREDENTIALS COMMITTEE. This group is charged with handling sign-in, counting the delegates, reporting the numbers of delegates and alternates to the Chair.
2. The RULES COMMITTEE will draft proposed rules and a proposed agenda for the conduct of the convention. The rules need to be mailed to the delegates and alternatives at least ten days before the convention. The State Party has provided a sample agenda and rules which only need to be tweeked for our needs.
3. The RESOLUTIONS and PLATFORM COMMITTEE needs to meet to consider platform issues and resolutions submitted at the caucuses and on the internet or by mail. Because these materials need to be sent out by e-mail or US Mail ten days before the convention, this group will need to meet this month.
4. The HOSPITALITY COMMITTEE will gather the coffee, donuts, etc. for this morning meeting. Because we’re preparing for 300 people, this may require a trip to Costco.
